Ombré/Powder Brows

Unlike Microblading, the Ombré/Powder process creates a soft, powder-filled brow similar to the look of makeup. The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light start at the beginning of the brow, giving that eye-catching Ombré Makeup effect! This technique is performed with a tattoo machine. Everyone’s a good candidate for Ombré/Powder shading. It is also recommended for customers that are not good candidates for microblading due to either previous permanent makeup, large pores or oily skin. All skin types can enjoy fuller, defined brows through this technique. It is 100% customizable and is great for anyone who wants a soft and natural look to a super bold look.

Unlike Microblading, the Ombré/Powder Brow process creates a soft, powder-filled brow similar to the look of makeup. The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light start at the beginning of the brow, giving that eye-catching Ombré Makeup effect! This technique is performed with a tattoo machine. Everyone’s a good candidate for Ombré/Powder shading. All skin types can enjoy fuller, defined brows through this technique. Ombré/Powder brows could last 1 – 3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle, longer than most eyebrow techniques and require less touch-up appointments. It is 100% customizable and is great for anyone who wants a soft and natural look to super bold look.

Ombré/Powder typically takes two appointments to complete. In the first appointment, the client is profiled and the eyebrows are drawn on with a brow pencil, so the artist and client can agree on the look. There are some pre-care and aftercare required, but your new Ombré/Powder Brows should be completely healed in 30 days.

The second appointment is a touch up that must be performed within 6-10 weeks after the initial session. This allows enough time for the ink in the epidermis to naturally slough off, and the color to settle into your skin. In the touch up appointment, the artist can see how your skin has received the ink and make any necessary corrections.

The pain level for the procedure is considered little to no pain. Topical anesthetic is applied prior and during the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described by many clients as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain either lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

An Ombré/Powder Brow session consists of a consultation the day of, where we review your lifestyle and daily brow maintenance. We then map the brows according to your facial structure to ensure proper symmetry and balanced proportion. Once you approve the brow shape, the procedure takes about an hour and a half. This entire session takes about 3 – 3.5 hours.

30 Days to completely heal. The eyebrow area will have minor redness or swelling 1 – 3 days and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the micropigmented area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.

Please see aftercare for more details on how to achieve better healed results.

We offer a complimentary touch up between 6 – 10 weeks of your appointment. After that, we charge a fee for annual or semi-annual color boosts.

Touch up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after the initial session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

  • Do not take the following prior to procedure: ALL of these make you bleed excessively. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will negatively affect the longevity of your semi-permanent makeup application. In some cases, the application will need to be prematurely stopped.
    • 3 Days: Aspirin, ibuprofen, or niacin. Take Tylenol instead.
    • 7 days: Fish oil supplements or Vitamin E.

After your procedure, clients MUST follow these instructions:

  • Later in the day after the treatment: Some lymph (clear yellowish liquid) & blood may come to the skin surface. If it’s not cleaned well, this will create more crusting. Within 2 hours after the procedure, clean brows by using the provided wipes or lightly moistened tissue/qtips with distilled water. Very gently use a patting motion (no wiping) from front to tail to soften any lymph and apply Acquaphor. If you have oily skin or experienced a lot of bleeding and lymph during the treatment, perform the cleaning again every 2 – 3 hours after initial cleaning.
  • Days 2 – 3 after the treatment: DO NOT WIPE your brows for the first three days, just pat the treated area gently (as described above) in the direction of the growth of the hair. After each use of wipe, apply a “thin/light” layer of Aquaphor (do not over apply) with a cotton swab to the treated area to protect it and promote faster healing.
  • Days 4 – 10 after the treatment: After the third day following the treatment, only apply thin layer of Aquaphor as needed and avoid water in the treated area.

GENERAL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Avoid heavy sweating and exercise for a week. It is “recommended” not to sweat for the first 10 days after the procedure. Sweat is salt and can prematurely fade the treated area.
  • Avoid any treatments involving touching the brows such as facials, lash extensions, etc. for 10 days.
  • Avoid the sauna, steam room, hot yoga, and swimming in the ocean or swimming pool for 2 weeks following the procedure.
  • Avoid using makeup on the eyebrows for at least 10 days, using makeup may cause infections. Blush, lipstick or eye makeup can be used.
  • No other ointments other Aquaphor should be used for 7 days. Neosporin or Bacitracin type products should be avoided in the treated area because they may negatively affect color retention.

  • Absolutely NO PICKING, PEELING, OR SCRATCHING of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment.
  • Avoid performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris for 10

  • Avoid drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.
  • Avoid driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles.
